Marni without the price tag

so i totally missed out on the Marni for H&M celebration as well as the Lanvin for H&M event.
why can't they do these unveilings when people are not at work?
i mean come on folks! my boss is not going for "oh...i need thursday off because I need to stand in line to hopefully buy a dress that i will fight 8 women to the death for".
but i digress.
i was perusing the Sheinside.com website and came across this dress
which is eerily similar to Marni. but a whole lot less!
score.

Dress: Paisley Print Sleeveless Chiffon c/o Sheinside.com | Shoes: DVF | Bracelet: H&M

i love the print on this dress and the light weight material.
so glad i found this. check out this awesome galaxy dress i got there as well.
i will be living in this dress this summer. if you havent already make sure to check out Sheinside.com its super affordable and they have an awesome selection of dresses!
Get 20% off at Sheinside.com with coupon code: Monroe20 until October 30th 2012.
now...as for the incredible Maison Martin Margiela collaboration with H&M happening on November 15th (a freaking Thursday) i will be taking a vacay day..and standing in line.
have you ever attended one of these designer collaboration debuts? was it crazy?

back to basics black maxi

sometimes i just want to chill out and hang around the house.
for moments like these i wear my house dress.
yes..my preferred lounge clothing is a dress. basic cotton dresses.
i have about 5 of them 2 grey, 1 black and 1 green. I'm adding this new black maxi dress to the stash of comfy clothing that can go from the bed to the park with ease and a pair of thong sandals.

Dress: c/o Valrouge.com | Sandals: Newport News

this dress is less than $8 on Valrouge.com. if thats not a fashion STEELE i dont know what is! i look forward to wearing this basic maxi many many times. its super comfortable and no fuss. thats what i love about maxi dresses like this one and this one. they are chic yet comfy.
ps...water always taste better in a wine glass. lol.

what are your go-to basics?

i blend in with the leaves

there's that color again...green. i got this top a few days ago at American Apparel.
it's was on sale to for a whooping $13 fashion STEELE! i decided to make it the focal color of the outfit and kept the skirt and accessories neutral and adding a pop of color with my Joe Fresh belt.
im starting to love pairing colors even if they don't match in the modern sense. fashion is about expressing yourself and doing what you want. it's visually more interesting than something we've all seen before. mixing it up...is better than being dull.

Top: American Apparel | Skirts: H&M | Shoes: Tahari Dayna Sandal
Belt: Joe Fresh | Watch: BCBGeneration | Necklace: Light Years

i love this skirt so much i have it in orange and in black. it's just a classic shape that looks great on me. i tend to gravitate toward tulip skirts and full skirts because they show off more of my figure. also super excited i got to wear my Tahari sandals again, see them worn differently here.
this is one of my favorite places to run through during the weekends. it's so serene and green. i love this time of year. i always forget that i have this green watch that i picked up at Loehmanns. I'm not really too much of a watch girl but I've got my eye on this and this very unique BCBGeneration watch as well. all i need now is an emerald ring like one of these to complete my green accessories. emerald is my birthstone...maybe thats why i love the color green so much..hmmmm.

where's your place of serenity?

you can't go wrong with a printed dress

this is one of my favorite dresses...and I don't wear it enough!
I got it a year or so ago from Loehmanns and I wore it to the Pretty Girls Rock Dresses event
at the Tracy Reese boutique. I had such a great time meeting other fashionable ladies there.
anywho...it was time to pull this oldie but a goodie out and take her for a spin.

Shoes: L.A.M.B. Mya check them out HERE  in 2 tone black and grey
 Bag: Mizstique via Marshalls

how i love love love to the fourth power my new shoes. they are sooooo comfortable too. dont tell anyone but I got them at Nordstroms Rack for 1/2 their original price. Fashion STEELE! i love shoes and can honestly say...i will be wearing these at least once a week. the neutral color goes with everything. since i'm still in my "i love anything printed and tribal phase" this dress let me express myself a little. but i still want some authentic Kente shirts. damnit i wish i knew how to sew.
if you are on the hunt for unique printed dresses check out this one, this one and this one.

peplum....i can dig it

every where i turn..peplum this...peplum that..peplum peplum peplum. OK fashion industry..we get it! Peplum is the shit right now. as you all know...i dont like to jump on a trend until im sure it will work for me and until it dies down a little. I got this lovely peplum skirt from ZARA when I was in Barcelona.

Denim Top: H&M Mens Department | Skirt: Zara get similar here and here
Shoes: Charles Jourdan | Bag: Zara | Ring: Got it in Mexico | Necklace: Thrifted

i love the color combination of the bright neon purse and the skirt. i believe this bag is sold out but get a similar one here or here. with a neutral shoe like these elegant Charles Jourdan's that I picked up at Loehmanns it all came together. this denim top is one of my favorites. a fashion STEELE at $19 during an H&M sale. sometimes the men's department has just what i'm looking for lol. so im digging peplum but i only really like peplum skirts. the shirts...not so much...but i will never say never because im sure some way i'll end up with one.
check out this outfit VIDEO post on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL and Subcribe for updates on all my videos!

what do you think of the peplum trend?
