happy hour

so last but not least is the after work get together with the What to Wear Series. You can backtrack and see what to wear for a night out, what to wear on a date night,
there are sooo many happy hours in NYC. the perfect place to meet up with your girls for an afterwork drink or with your beau or to meet someone new..who has a job!
so of course the after work get togethers are a little more put together but with a change from your daily flats into some stunning furry pumps...and you've got an outfit!

Top: Forever 21 | Skirt: Zara | Shoes: Gianvito Rossi | Bag: c/o Rebecca Minkoff Romeo
Necklace: Light Years

SHOP THE LOOK
i got this skirt during the awesome sale that was going on at Zara. i love the shape and the print of it. its very tribal chic! i paired it with one of my favorite forever 21 button ups that i wear religiously. see it worn diffrently here. the furry shoe really sets off the outfit along with one of my favorite
"hold my life inside it" bags from Rebecca Minkoff.
what i love most about this outfit is the mixture of textures and patterns with the bag the shoes and the skirt.
this is definitely a good look for that awesome happy hour just waiting for you to attend!

a little romper

continuing with the what to wear series...enter the romper. its perfect for a day date. you know...a walk through the park, coffee, a matinee show. its less dressy than the normal date dress but still casual and sexy in its own way. this is one of my favorite rompers from Top Shop. the last time I wore it was last year during New York Fashion Week.

Romper: Top Shop get similar here & here | Shoes: Sole Society | Bag: Sequoia via Loehmanns
Lipstick: Stila Fiery

the sleeves on this romper is what got me. that are like wings but slit down the middle. i paired it with my fav black strappy sandals {see them worn differently here and here) and my silver Sequoia handbag. this romper would definitely work for a day date!

The bandage skirt

i usually shy away from very tight clothing...mainly because it rides up and i end up tugging on it all night and feeling self conscious. but this bandage skirt is different. it hardly ever rides up because of the material. i think its perfect for a date night. since the bottom is so tight i went with a more billowy top to balance it all out.

Skirt: La Cite get similar here and here | Top: Top Shop | Shoes: L.A.M.B. Morisa |
Lip: Nars Heat Wave | Necklace: Thrifted from Brooklyn Flea Market

i have a booty and i dont like it to be fully exposed...especially on a first date. i usually wait to a second or third date to shut it all the way down lol. So i like to leave my shirt untucked in the back. it serves a dual purpose of covering my booty tootch and making the look less pretentious and more laid back. a perfect outfit for a date to dinner or a movie. i love these L.A.M.B. sandals because although they are hella high they are really quite easy to walk in for a long period of time. Stay tuned for more What to Wear Series!
whats your go to outfit for a date night?

What to Wear: For a Night Out

so you are going out for a night out whether that be dancing the night away with your girls or going to a lounge to sip drinks and listen to some music with your beau.
there are some pieces that are perfect for this type of event.
i always steer toward a fitted dress for these types of events.
and by fitted i mean tight enough to show that you're a woman but classy enough to show that you're a lady.

Dress: Rachel Roy | Shoes: Zara | Bag: c/o Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C. Mini
For evening you should bring out the big guns...and by big guns i mean the highest, sexiest heels you've got. But keep in mind if you are going to be dancing...keep the heel as thick as possible and bring a pair of fast flats for the cab ride home. lawd knows your feet will be hurting if you like to dance like i like to dance! I also usually carry a clutch at night so i can be free of clutter.
i wore this outfit out for Epic Thursdays. Yes I just made that up but seriously my Thursday night was EPIC. First stop Butter for cocktails, followed by dinner at Republic (banging 90s hip hop playing as I ate my chicken pesto). That was then followed by more drinks at my friends friend Irish Pub. Interesting music...triple sec drinks! That was then followed up by dancing at Bar 13 (free shots and grinding with very handsome gay men), followed by a more pretentious crowd at RDV in meatpacking. It was awesome. I havent partied like that since I was 18 and my legs still hurt lol.
To get a similar look try this dress or this dress!
Stay tuned for the rest of the What to Wear Series.
